Separation Anxiety?
Is it too early to start
making team judgements? After the latest cycle of games, five
teams have broken away from their respective packs. Ft Lauderdale
leads the league with 41 wins and a 7.5 game lead in the Basie (AL)
East. Brookfield has 40 W's and a 3.5 game margin over the Killer
Nutz. In the Ellington League, Bradenton is rolling with 40 wins
and a 5 game cushion in the East. While in the West, two teams -
Bartlett and Hilliard - have notched 40 wins and have created some
separation from third place Detroit.

Ten For
Thome
Jim Thome had the game of his life
this week. On Sunday, Thome single handedly dismantled the Burlington Brewers'
pitching staff. He started off with a simple RBI double in the first inning off
of Kevin Millwood. In the third, Thome launched a grand slam off Millwood on
the first pitch he saw. In the fourth, he watched the first four pitches from
Tom Gordon go by for a 2-2 count. After two foul balls, Gordon snuck a
curveball past him for a called third strike, Thome's only out of the game. In
the sixth, Thome hit a full count fastball off of Zach Miner for his second
grand slam of the game. In the eight, Thome added a solo shot off of Chad
Bradford for a 4-5 day with 3 homers and a whopping 10 RBIs in the Wildcats 15-6
win.

Bonds, Howard Show Off Demon Bats
The Detroit Demons went 4-3 for the week, thanks mostly
to the bats of Barry Bonds and Ryan Howard. Bonds only had 6 hits to go with 6
walks for the week, but 4 of those hits were dingers. He scored 8 runs and
drove in 10. Howard was even better. He had 3 doubles and 5 taters out of his
